The Livingston Youth & Community Services program, known as LYCS is a collaborative community organization sponsored by the Township of Livingston, the Livingston Municipal Alliance Committee and the Mental Health Association of Essex County. LYCS is a drug prevention program that educates Livingston adolescents from the 3rd - 12th grades.

LYCS' Goals
The primary goal of LYCS is to be a community based mental health resource that identifies and implements Wellness programs for all Livingston youth
Our goals are:
- To reduce the incidence
of substance abuse among the adolescent population.
- To have Livingston's youth make healthier life choices.
- To increase the level of education and knowledge about substance abuse.
- To provide
opportunities for Livingston youth to engage in healthy social recreation.
LYCS is comprised of three separate age groupings.
Our curriculum is developmentally
age appropriate.
Leaders (3rd - 6th Grades)
Peer Leaders (7th – 8th Grades)
Peer To Peer
(9th – 12th Grades)
Each age grouping is comprised of four activity
components:
EDUCATION - RECREATION - TRAINING - COMMUNITY SERVICE
The LYCS staff meet with the children at their respective elementary,
middle or high school one day per month for approximately 60 minutes (Grades
3 , 4 and 6) or 90 minutes (Grades 5, 7 & up). All students participate
in additional training and special events during the year. LYCS is an
on-going program that operates during daytime hours, evenings, weekends,
and vacation times.
LYCS is a program supervised by the Mental Health Association of Essex County (MHAEC). LYCS is funded by the Livingston Township Council and the Livingston Municipal Alliance (LMAC).
